Hello
I'm Miranda—teacher, self-taught cook, and the heart behind Cooking Sprouts. I live in Chicago and spend most of my time either in the kitchen or working with kids, both of which bring me endless joy (and plenty of messes).
Before starting Cooking Sprouts, I taught elementary art, where I saw just how capable and curious kids can be when given the space to create. That same spirit is what I bring into the kitchen. I believe cooking doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful—it just has to be real, shared, and made with care.
When I’m not cooking with kids, I’m usually testing recipes, thrifting weird kitchen tools, or making a mess in my own home kitchen.
Cooking Sprouts is a dream come true—a chance to combine everything I love in one delicious little package.
My Story
I took my first cooking class when I was 10 years old and never really stopped. I loved the feeling of making something from scratch and feeding the people around me—it just felt good.
Later, I became an art teacher and realized how much I love working with kids—watching them grow more confident as they explore and create.
Cooking Sprouts brings those two parts of me together. It’s about giving kids the tools (and space) to make real meals for their families, and to feel proud of what they’ve made.
Because when kids learn to cook, they’re not just making dinner—they’re gaining confidence, one meal at a time.
